How’s Your Year?

Hope you’re doing great.

Had to write to you a little later this week as I went straight from traveling for 3 weeks to a huge charity boot camp at our gym, team meetings to set goals again, training, …you name it.

Yesterday marked the 3/4 year mark, meaning that there are 92 (now 91) days left in the year. That’s quite a bit of time to accomplish things.

Get more new clients into your business.

Start new programs and front end offers.

Streamline marketing.

Save more money.

Earn yourself and your family a vacation.

Get in the best shape you’ve been in a long time.

91 days is a lot of time and a lot can be done…..

But first I want you do something. Think about (or look at) your new year’s resolutions. What were they? How much of it did you make happen this year?

If you set to add $6k/month EFT for the year, are you up $4500/month right now?

If your goal was to lose 20 lbs, have you lost 15?

Did you start the business you set out to start?

Did you become a better coach through education? What skills did you develop to do that?

I want to help you, so let’s put it all on the table. Look at your results year to date on things you committed to at the beginning of the year.

What does reality say when you lay it all out?

Truth is that the actions you took related to your goals put you in only one of three different places.

#1. You crushed what you set out to do.

#2. Did exactly what you set out to accomplish.

#3. You didn’t reach the goals you set out for yourself.

91 days left!

Regardless of where you are, the best thing about life is that you can start again today. What happened in the past doesn’t matter (unless it creates a repetitive cycle); what matters is what you do today to affect tomorrow.

I took my team out to dinner on Sunday so we could look into the future together and set some goals. We’ve committed to the “100 Project.” Signing up at least 100 people in the next 4 months (end of January). We also have set goals for everyone becoming a better coach and have set parameters on how we will know this (as individuals and as a team).

BIG goals!

See, one of the reasons people fail to push through their New Year’s resolutions is because they take their foot off the pedal at the end of the year and have no momentum going into the New Year. How you finish 2013 will be a big predictor of how 2014 will look for you.

What are you going to accomplish by the end of this year?

Don’t think it in your head, write it down. Keep it in front of you. Commit to yourself and to your team (or people that you care about and who depend on you!)

Monday Motivation: We Struggle Too!

Hey guys, it’s Krebsi here. Happy Monday!

Have your ever woken up on Monday Morning immediately stressed or anxious? Worried about what may or may not be happening in your business or personal life?

Well, that was my personal M.O. for years. I used to suffer from some pretty gnarly anxiety issues that would make me feel like I wanted to climb up the damn wall. If you have never had anxiety, it can make you actually feel scared. To be honest, it’s absolutely exhausting and for a long time it held me back from my true potential.

I have achieved great success despite this obstacle, but still struggle with it at times. The point I’m trying to make is that even successful people have issues and problems. We still have daily struggles that we must overcome just like anyone else. Nothing worth having comes easy, and there really is no such thing as an overnight success. Hard Work always wins out, and that is the only ingredient that you truly need to achieve your dreams.

Your perspective in life is what dictates your path. For the longest time, money was all that mattered to me. I was dirt poor for a long time; I actually had to scrape change together to pay bills and at one point I was 30k in credit card debt.

My status in life was directly related to my self worth, my perspective, and the people I was surrounding myself with.

How did it all change?

Step 1- Rid my life of negativity
Step 2- Hired my first mentor
Step 3- Got pissed off for excellence
Step 4- Worked my ass off (This continues to this day)
Step 5- Surrounded myself with people who were better than me
Step 6- Set HUGE Goals/Desired Outcomes
Step 7- Developed Consistency in everything I do

I hope my stories help you realize that you can accomplish whatever you want. But it all starts and ends with you. You are responsible for your destiny. There are no handouts, and the closer you get to success the more resistance you will receive from the world in one way or another.

Life is a beautiful struggle. We all have our own demons. It’s how you fight those demons that defines your life.

Get Uncomfortable NOW!

I’m sitting here in the Syracuse Airport waiting for my journey to begin…again. I was here yesterday as well, but my flight got cancelled and my whole trip was thrown off. I’m heading to Slovenia to meet Luka to do a kick off seminar at the grand opening of the new Vigor Ground Facility.

This is actually my first time to Europe and I’m not gonna lie I’m a little nervous. I’m a little uncomfortable.

It makes me think of business. Anytime that I have been comfortable in my business it goes stagnant. Comfort = taking your foot off the gas pedal = no growth.

It’s time to get very uncomfortable.

Are you pushing your business like a runaway locomotive?

Are you setting HUGE goals?

“I would rather reach the moon shooting for the stars, then shoot for the gutter and reach it.”

Take whatever your goals are for next month and DOUBLE THEM. Makes you uncomfortable huh?


But the great thing that happens in your discomfort is RESULTS. The same goes for your clients, right? Starting something new is scary, so is setting HUGE unimaginable goals for your business. But don’t you owe it to the number of people that you could help by pushing it?

Monday Motivation: Do You Want to Be Successful?

Hope you’re doing great.

I’m just getting back from my mastermind meeting in Hawaii and I have to say it was both relaxing as well as uncomfortable.

Let me explain…

Relaxing because the internet wasn’t great so I could read and relax a lot (and my team has things on lock). I also swam with dolphins, hiked volcanoes, enjoyed the multiple beautiful beaches, paddle boarded, had great food and a cocktail or two. I also had amazing company.

You might see some pictures of Steve Krebs, Travis Jones, and me singing our hearts out in karaoke, to a point that we got shut down by the guy that ran it. He shut down our mics and shortened songs…that’s a story for another day though…

The uncomfortable part came when mastermind pushed us to double the goals we set for ourselves (which were already big in our minds). It gave me an uneasy feeling in my stomach at first but then I reminded myself that if you’re not at least a little afraid of your goals then you’re not pushing yourself hard enough.

We committed to those numbers and now we have to own them.

We ended up breaking down what we needed to do to achieve those goals and it started becoming more real.

We had to answer, “If you don’t make it happen, what will be the reason?”

And really, there was no other answer US. If it doesn’t happen then we didn’t make it happen. We have the resources we need and the knowledge to get it done. For the things that we don’t, we know who to reach out to, hire them, and have them help us.

There is no doubt that it will take a LOT of hustle but we WILL do it.

See, the first question you need to answer for yourself is: “Are you sure you want to be successful?”


Do you?

Ok, cool, now we can move on to the next step.

What is broken? What needs to be fixed for that to happen?

Maybe the question is, what needs to be improved and scaled to be taken to the next level?

I talk to people that need help with their business on the daily. They end up telling me the things that are good in their business.

That’s not facing problems head on. You don’t go to the doctor and show them that your toe is fine when you have a broken finger and it hurts.

You have a broken finger and that is what needs to be fixed, so get help and get it fixed.

If you’re not happy with where you are then something needs to be done to move you from where you are to where you want to go.

This goes for anything in life, but right now we’re talking about your business.

Have you got goals for the month and the rest of the year?

How many people do you need to sign up to reach these goals?

How many leads do you need to achieve that?

How are you going to bring those leads in?

What needs to improve, be eliminated or added?

There are many questions that can be asked here but I hope you get my point.

You can break things down and have a blueprint to get you to where you want to go. When you have it in front of you then it’s easier to see what you need to do and how much of it.

Might not be easy but you can SEE it and then you have to go and DO what you laid out.

So if there is something broken and you need help with it then reach out and find someone you know can help you.

If you don’t, just know that you are choosing to stay where you are!

If you choose to play small then that is fine. Just know what you are choosing. I’m not going to play small and I’m not going to bet against myself, which is why I’m taking on the goals we set out for ourselves.

Play small or play big. Your choice.

P.S. It’s hard to read the passion through an e-mail but when I was writing this I wanted to really get across that you CAN make anything happen. If you sat down across from me this is what I would ask you and I’d encourage you to take the emergency brake off. I look at the people I surrounded myself with and how they push me past my comfort zone and help me see and believe things that used to “not be possible.”

Monday Motivation: Deadlines and maps…what’s that all about?

I’ll be real honest with you. I’m at the airport and about to fly out to Hawaii for our mastermind with “The Family” and I’m finishing up writing emails and sending out tasks for some projects in the works.

Usually this would be done, but I had Dax Moy out at Vigor Ground doing the MindMap certification over the weekend and my whole team and I were completely engaged with the knowledge being dropped.

This is probably THE most valuable seminar I’ve attended when it comes to changing the clients we work with from the inside out. It’s a different approach to helping the client release the breaks (in all areas of life) with questioning and guiding them to letting you know what to do with them.

TELLING people what to do doesn’t work that well (neither short term and especially not long term) and there is a much much better, more effective non-intrusive way to do it where the client chooses their path.

I know, very different but backed by science and results.

For real, if you want to know more check it out as it will be a game changer for Vigor Ground and another thing that will separate us from the surrounding gyms.

I’ll share a little snippet of great info from the seminar….

These are the “Super 7” Client Readiness Questions and they will help not only sell you as a coach but have the clients let you know exactly what they want from you so you can deliver it. How many times do you know exactly what they want and how they will rate you on whether you are doing your job?

#1. What do you think are the 5 most important ways I can help you as a coach?

#2. How will you actually measure that I’m helping you with these things?

#3. What do you think would be the most powerful, most impactful thing I could do for you during our coaching?

#4. What do you think will happen if we DON’T coach together?

#5. What do you think would constitute poor coaching on my part?

#6. What do you think I should do if you fall behind in the pursuit of your goals or break our agreements?

#7. How will you know if the financial investment for coaching has been a good value?

Use them the next time you have a strategy session and see what happens.

Ok, so back to my story of being at the airport.

I had 25 minutes before boarding and very low battery but I needed to get a LOT done. The deadlines kept me focused and on point and I honestly achieved more in a half hour than I usually do in 3-4 hours!

Reminds me to set more deadlines that keep me laser focused. I don’t know why I got away from it but I’m getting back to doing my egg timer for 45 minutes of work at a time followed by a 5-10 minute break. I’m also using the freedom app so it shuts down social media while I’m doing content.

Do more work, do better work, in less time.

It can be done…just stop stepping on your own toes get FOCUSED.

Set some deadlines for the week and crush them. It feels good to get stuff done in time.

Monday Motivation: I’m on the move! Are you?

Happy Labor Day. Hope you enjoyed the weekend and are still getting as much of the summer sun as possible. The Seattle summer has been one of the best in a decade. No complaints here.

I’ll be honest though, I was moving all weekend and actually most of last night. Still have more to do today. There wasn’t much being in the sun for me.

For everyone that has ever moved you know it can be a pain in the ass.

Moving furniture.

Throwing crap you don’t need away (giving away half of my clothes to the homeless…minimizing feels gooood!)

Getting new stuff (this is not that bad).

Changing the address on all documents; this sucks the worst!

And so on….

Most people asked me why I moved since I was living in a nice place and never complained about it. It was the exact opposite, I love the area, living on the lake, etc.

I didn’t move far….

I moved to a different part of the building, a little bigger apartment with an office, a deck on the garden floor.

What no one knew is that I NEEDED to move.

Last couple of years in my personal life were not the greatest. Some really rough times. Truth be told, the roughest (and I have been through some serious shit in my life!).

There is no “woe is me;” I take 100% responsibility for everything that happened to me.

I realized that living where I was kept me in a place I didn’t want to be. Too many reminders and it made me not enjoy coming home as much as. This led to working in the office more and throwing off my schedule.

Either way, I stopped stepping on my own feet and decided to make the move.

I realize I should have made the move earlier but I can’t go back now. All I can do is change the present with what I do to affect my future.

I’m already feeling better about it all and I have started organizing everything even more, from my schedule, task lists, big projects, when I eat, etc.

I’m making the place Zen, minimalistic, with pictures of what inspires me, a library in the office.

This will make a huge change and I just needed to let go of some things.

Sounds easy but change is hard! We live in ambivalence so much of the time when it comes to things that hold us back (and we know it).

Friends and mentors helped me make the choice (you can’t push anyone, the change has to come from within) to make the move.

So to put you in the spotlight…

Are YOU stuck?

Do you need to make a move in your life or your business?

How long have you been where you don’t want to be? And how much will you miss by staying there?

Here is the great thing about wherever you are – if you don’t like it you can change it!

First you have to take 100% responsibility for where you are.

Then make a choice to change it.

Easy? Nope.

Will you feel all types of resistance (within yourself, your friends and family too)? Yep.

Will it be the most worthwhile thing you have done in a long time? HELL YES!

Maybe my truth has made you think about what your truth is.

What I can’t do is “convince” you or make the choice for you.

Change has to be from the inside out and not the other way around.

Monday Motivation: The challenge for the challengers!

Hope you’re doing great!

I’m still amped up from our Vigor Games that we held at the gym this past weekend. It was beyond a blast as we had Training for Warriors Challenges, Trap Bar Deadlift, and Strongman events.

We had prizes, BBQ, music, and most of all the Vigor Team and Family.

I love spending time with the Vigor fam, doing fun stuff, and challenging them to the next level.

Did I mention it was a ton of fun?

Challenges are great to get people going and to break a rut and plateaus.

September is coming up and I really hope that you have a transformation challenge lined up (back to school is the second busiest time of the year!)

You do, right?

It’s one of the best ways to get people through the doors, create an amazing experience, get them great results, and have them become part of your family.

The great thing is that you can do it in so many different ways, whether it’s a fat loss challenge, a performance challenge, a muscle building challenge, an athlete challenge, for men, for women…I could keep going.

People love contests and challenges and the great thing is they are close-ended so there is not as much commitment to get into them.

In the meantime you have time to work your magic and show crazy value, connection, and community so that people want to continue to stay part of your tribe.

So you know that you should be running challenges.

My question to you is, do you challenge yourself?

When was the last time you challenged yourself and is it something that you do throughout the year?

I do 30 day challenges almost every other month and I push my team to do the same.

I just finished a 30 day challenge not long ago where I dedicated at least 3 hours a day – every day – reading, studying, watching DVDs, etc.

Got it done, which means that I got more than 90 hours of study time in! Definitely took a leap in my education.

We set 30 day challenges with our team for signing up new clients. 90% of the time we crush the expectations because we set goals with deadlines and it lights a fire in people.

That’s what challenges do.

This next 30 days for me will be spent writing 2 blogs per week, shooting 2 videos per week, and writing 2 newsletters per week ,along with 2 seminars for the gym.

That’s the minimum!

On the physical side of things I will dedicate 20 minutes a day to some advanced bodyweight training that will help me nail some exercises. I’ll also be doing a 30 minute walk 5x a week while listening to audios.

When I do the challenges, it keeps me focused, especially because I write them on the big board in the office and challenge the team to set their own challenges.

Maybe its a relationship challenge and you need to commit to doing something with your significant other twice a week.

In which area of your life, fitness, business do you need a challenge?

Decide what it will be (it should be uncomfortable), announce it to others…people who will keep you accountable…then DO it.

You’ll feel so accomplished when you do it that you will want to keep setting them up.

So what is your 30 day challenge going to be?

Monday Motivation: Do you have a JMS filter?

Hope you’re doing great.

Just waking up here in Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast after taking a couple of chill days (this means me reading, writing, and doing sprints on the beach).

It had to happen as I was on the road 4 out of 7 days for the last 5 weeks and as much as I love traveling, speaking, and attending seminars, its smoked me a little bit and it was time to re-charge.

As I’m going over the notes from the Perform Better Summit and notes from our business meetings in vegas last weekend I notice how much different they are (my notes) compared to 3 or 5 years ago.

I listen a lot, just like I used to, except now I “hear” more.

This allows me to take down better notes and ONLY what is important to my clients, my team, myself, my business, and my life.

I used to not have much of a JMS filter (thanks to Dan John for this term….we talked about it on the way to get some food after a Perform Better preso).

What is JMS?


I see it all the time. Tons of different “blueprints,” training templates, ideas, programs, lead funnels.

The question is whether it’s “Just More Shit.”

It goes for training.



It goes for organization.

And many other things in your life…

So before I take a note or make something important enough (written down), I run it through the JMS filter.

Will it make an impact for my family, me, my clients…all the people that matter and I serve.

How many times do you get paralysis by analysis because you don’t have a JMS filter?

I hear it all the time: “I know all this stuff but I don’t know what to do!”

Do less things more often.

Run them through the JMS filter and choose wisely.

Wednesday Motivation

Are you surrounding yourself with people who are going to push you to heights you never thought imaginable?

Luka and I just got back from a trip to Vegas to meet up with our boys Travis Jones and Kevin Nations. These guys are absolute MONSTERS so we made a special trip out to hang with them, brain storm, and strategize our next steps.

These guys seriously push us!

Do you have people in your life that force you to go ALL IN and PLAY BIG?!

As a fitness pro you have probably been taught you can only make so much money…that this industry is for people who want to help others not become wealthy.

Guess what?

That is complete and utter bullshit. You owe it to yourself, your family, and your members to GO BIG and grow your business to new levels. Constant and never ending improvement should always be the goal.

We tell our Pack Family Coaching Clients that they should always be happy but never content. And I want you to be the same way.

The fitness industry is growing, which means more competition, but it also means more opportunity. Are you going to shy away from a challenge? Or are you ready to step up and get what you are worth?

I choose #2 for you. Get paid what you are worth by charging more money, helping more people, and in turn, achieving the life of your dreams.
